BankSA is the largest financial institution in South Australia by number of branches, ATMs, deposits and loans. It provides a comprehensive range of retail, business and private banking products and services to customers in South Australia and the Northern Territory. It offers savings and transaction accounts, home, car and personal loans, credit cards, life and general insurance, small business lending, commercial mortgages, mobile and internet banking, retirement and estate planning, superannuation solutions, self managed super funds and more. It also offers international payments, foreign cash, trade and corporate finance, securities, derivatives, vehicle and equipment finance, Visa business cards, business and farm insurance, industry banking and other services. The company was established in March 1848 as The Savings Bank of South Australia and merged with State Bank of South Australia in 1984. After the collapse in 1992, the merged entity was sold to Advance Bank, which was acquired by St. George Bank in 1997. In 2008, BankSA and St. George Bank became part of Westpac Group. Today, it serves one in three South Australians.
