Athena Mortgage Pty Ltd (also known as Athena Home Loans), based in Sydney, is a digital non-bank lender offering affordable online home loans with low interest rates and no fees. The company doesn’t offer savings accounts and credit cards. It was established in 2017 and launched in 2019 by former bankers Nathan Walsh and Michael Starkey. For FY 2023, Athena had a loan portfolio of $2.7 billion. Athena’s investors include AirTree Ventures, Square Peg Capital, Resimac Group, Rice Warner, AustralianSuper, Macquarie Bank and Apex Capital, among others.
